The AlwaysOn East Top 100 award represents the top emerging companies from the East Coast that are demonstrating significant market traction and pursuing game-changing technologies in on-demand computing, digital media, and greentech.
TiEcon 2010 Cleantech Winner
TiEcon showcases the most enterprising new companies that demonstrate an entrepreneurial spirit and an enduring commitment combining their cutting-edge and sometime radical ideas with their determination to create innovative companies. The winner of TiE50 will be selected from five industry segments: BioSciences, Cleantech, Internet, Software and Wireless.
Technology Association of Georgia (TAG) Top 40 Winner
The "Top 40" winners are awarded based on specific criteria including; degree of innovation, scope and financial impact of innovation, likelihood of success, and promotion of Georgia's innovative efforts nationally and internationally. Eligible companies will be Georgia based, and be viewed as "technology" focused (in other words the companies primary focus would be the development and dissemination of technology).
2010 Outstanding Achievment Award in Research Innovation Award
Dr. Ajeet Rohatgi received the 2010 Outstanding Achievement in Research Innovation Award, nominated on behalf of the faculty of the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering and endorsed by the ECE Faculty Honors Committee. The award is presented to the faculty member or research team recognized as working at the forefront of development or technology commercialization, whose research results have had a demonstrable external economic, social, or policy impact.
Renewable Energy Exporter of the Year, EX-IM Bank
Suniva was awarded Renewable Energy Exporter of the Year by the Export-Import (EX-IM) Bank of the United States at its annual conference in Washington for its exemplary export efforts including the export of 90% of its product in 2009, while maintaining and creating US jobs. The award ceremony preceded Suniva CEO, John Baumstark's introduction of the keynote speaker, President Barack Obama.
Corporate Investment and Community Impact (CiCi) Award Winner
The CiCi Awards are unique in that it is a dual-awards program. It not only highlights the largest corporate investment projects, but also recognizes those projects that may not involve large investments, but made the most notable impact on communities. There are a number of criteria considered for the Impact division-i.e., number of new jobs created, number of current jobs retained, unemployment figures, income level of the region and plant closings.
Wall Street Journal's Ranking of Top Venture-Backed Companies
Suniva took the #2 spot in the Wall Street Journal's The Next Big Thing ranking of the Top 10 Venture-Backed, Clean Technology Companies, which identifies green companies that have the capital, experience and investor expertise to succeed. The winners were announced at The Wall Street Journal's third annual ECO:nomics Conference. In addition, Suniva ranked #15 in the WSJ's Top 50 Venture-Backed Companies, which chooses firms across all industries that show the biggest promise of success. To calculate the two rankings, Dow Jones VentureSource analyzed 350 cleantech firms valued at less than $1 billion, and more than 5,000 venture-backed firms valued at less than $1 billion (respectively), using proprietary data and financial and business criteria.

Dr. Ajeet Rohatgi was awarded the Leadership in Technology award by Renewable Energy World for his achievements in advancing the market for renewable energy in North America. The Renewable Energy Awards recognize the most cutting-edge projects, people and technologies in the clean energy industry.
Climate Change Business Journal, Business Achievement Award, Finance
Suniva was awarded the Business Achievement Finance award for raising one of the largest funding private funding rounds of the year and expanding production capacity. CCBJ winners are honored either for business performance in the form of revenue growth, or for gaining traction in new service practices, new technology or unique projects. The aggregation of CCBJ winners along with the executive Q&As in the journal offer perspective and insight into parts of the climate change industry that experienced the most activity in 2009.

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency 2009 Climate Protection Award
The EPA awards were created to recognize exceptional leadership, outstanding innovation, personal dedication, and technical achievements in climate protection. EPA award winners are considered to be the world's most accomplished individuals and organizations working to protect the earth's climate. Dr. Ajeet Rogatgi, founder and CTO of Suniva, was recently recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for a lifetime's contribution to making solar technology a realistic, low-cost energy solution. Dr. Rohatgi was honored as an Individual Climate Protection Award Winner in May 2009, at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C.
ASES Hoyt Clarke Hottel Award
The Hoyt Clarke Hottel Award is created each year by the ASES Awards Committee. The winner is awarded and recognized as having made a significant contribution to technology in any area of the solar energy field. ASES selected Dr. Rohatgi as this year's Hoyt Clarke Hottel Award Winner, for outstanding contributions in solar energy technology. Dr. Rohatgi was honored at the SOLAR 2009 conference in Buffalo, NY in May, 2009.
AlwaysOn GoingGreen East 50 Award
This award lists the top 50 emerging companies in the Eastern U.S. and Canada that are creating new business opportunities in green technology. Suniva was recently selected by AlwaysOn as one of the Top 50 green technology companies in the Eastern U.S.
The Individual Thought Leadership Award category is given for leadership contributions in energy and environmental problem solving, with special emphasis on disruptive and scalable solutions. Dr. Rohatgi was recently selected by the Aspen Institute's 2009 Energy and Environment Awards as one of five finalists in the Individual Thought Leadership category.
TAG Top 40 Most Innovative Companies
The TAG Top 10 is selected based on a number of criteria, including: degree of innovation; scope and financial impact of innovation; likelihood of success; and promotion of Georgia’s innovative efforts nationally and internationally. Suniva was also a winner in the category: "Top 10 Companies Most Likely To Create Jobs".
Atlanta Business Chronicle Environmental Awards
This award is given to a new product developed by an Atlanta based company or individual that exhibits outstanding environmental or “green” benefits. In May, Suniva received the Atlanta Business Chronicle's 2009 Envention Environmental Award.
